Liviu Tudor, founder of Genesis Property and president of the European Property Federation, is not only one of the most successful Romanian entrepreneurs, but also one of the visionaries of the office building space market. The challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic led him to look for solutions that would respond to both current and future health threats. His efforts have resulted in the development of the IMMUNE Building Standard™, which certifies the resilience level of a building during a pandemic or similar health threat, based on more than 100 measurement criteria. It is one of the most impactful projects developed by Liviu Tudor, born out of the desire to change the world for the better.
Liviu Tudor was born on March 21, 1961, graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest and obtained a specialization in aeronautical engineering, and later, he took specialized courses at London Business School. He also holds a Ph.D. in Management, obtained at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. He is married and has two children.
His business career has been a successful one. Liviu Tudor founded the first satellite communications company in Romania (Digicom S.A.), after which he reoriented towards the real estate area, where he has been operating for over 20 years. In 2000, he opened Novo Park, one of the first-class A office spaces in Romania, located in the northern part of Bucharest. West Gate Business District was the second office park, built to the highest standards. The two projects total a leasable area of over 150,000 m2, and the president of Genesis Property has thus become the largest owner of Class A office space in Bucharest. The businessman's buildings are home to well-known multinationals such as HP, Ericsson, Siemens, Accenture, Societe Generale Global Solution Center, Alpha Bank, Garanti BBVA, Infineon, Luxoft and Yokogawa. In addition, Liviu Tudor started, together with his wife, a real estate project for students - West Gate Studios is the largest private university campus in Romania and can accommodate over 1,800 students per year.
The real estate market in Romania is one of the most attractive in the entire European Union, and the development and good image are largely due to Liviu Tudor. In 2011, the entrepreneur founded the Romanian Building Owners Board (RABO), the first organization that brings together the most important local and international real estate investors operating in Romania. RABO's mission is to promote a solid, transparent and stable economic and legislative framework, governed by EU rules and standards.
Liviu Tudor also holds important positions in prestigious international organizations. He is the President of the European Property Federation (EPF), a Brussels-based organization representing all aspects of property ownership, investment, brokerage and management. Liviu Tudor is also a member of the Trilateral Commission, a global platform for open dialogue, and a member of the World Presidents ’Organization (YPO / WPO). Also, since 2013, the businessman is Secretary-General of the Romanian Association for the Club of Rome (ARCoR). The organization has undertaken its mission to address the multiple crises facing humanity, an approach that fits the vision of the Romanian entrepreneur. Since 2020, Liviu Tudor has focused his attention on the IMMUNE Building Standard™.
IMMUNE Building Standard™ is the first global standard to revolutionize the future of office buildings by certifying their resilience to epidemics and identifying a complex set of measures that any property owner in the world can take to immunize offices in their buildings against current and future risks for health. Developed in Romania by experts in health, technology, architecture, construction, engineering and facility management led by Liviu Tudor, the IMMUNE™ standard is an innovative solution, unique in the world, which responds to the current epidemiological context and is the basis of future office buildings.
IMMUNE Building Standard™ is a coherent certification of 135 science-based measures, designed and developed to assess and certify the health of the physical space in the built environment. An independent licensed building assessor evaluates and awards a property one of three IMMUNE™ labels: Strong (3 stars), Solid (4 stars) or Resilient (5 stars). IMMUNE Building Standard™ is based on a practical investment in Healthy by Design System (HbDS), consisting of a network of devices and technologies, specialized equipment, dedicated staff and new facilities, which promotes the implementation of operational and health rules in indoor spaces of the building where people interact.
Thus, the development of IMMUNE™ aims to create spaces that encourage collaboration and protect health and where employees can carry out their daily work safely, both during and after the pandemic. Wellbeing and sustainability will always be a general concern, so the IMMUNE™ development has had as its main goal the good long-term management of potential threats to human health, the protection of office building residents and the support of business excellence.
"You always have to think beyond your self-interest. The more our actions influence and change the lives of as many people as possible, the more time we spend on business is not wasted.”
Liviu Tudor, founder of Genesis Property and president of the European Property Federation.
In the summer of 2021, the H3 Building in the West Gate Business District, fully occupied by Ericsson, obtained the IMMUNE™ - Resilient certification, becoming the first building in the world to achieve the highest level of IMMUNE Building Standard™ certification. The solution proposed and developed by Liviu Tudor quickly gained popularity worldwide. Mace International Consulting and Construction Company holds the IMMUNE Building Standard™ certification for its headquarters in City of London. The factory and headquarters of FUTURE Designs, a British manufacturer and designer of high-quality custom bodies and lighting solutions, have been awarded the IMMUNE™ - Strong label following the successful implementation of a set of measures to ensure the safety and health of employees. One Palace Place, a luxury residential building in London, UK, run by Navana Property Group, has been awarded the IMMUNE™ - Strong label, becoming the first residential property to receive this award.
